We have a faithful, merciful God but when His buttons are pushed…
“But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.” Psalm 81:11-12
You might be thinking like I was when I saw this verse, God’s word says He is longsuffering and faithful even when we are not faithful, how could this be? We have a just God.
When we forsake God, go our own way, shut the door to His heart, and turn our backs. We will not walk in His blessings. As a matter of fact, God lets us muddle through the mess we created. “because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Likewise also the [a]men, leaving the natural use of the [b]woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,” Romans 1:21; 26-27
