Entrapment

Entrapment is a practice whereby an enforcement agent persuades, tricks, deceives or lures a person to commit a criminal offense that the person would have otherwise been unlikely or unwilling to commit.

The devil is an entrapment agent.

“The LORD said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the LORD, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.” Job 1:7

We are warned to “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

His objective is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10).

How do you prevent yourself from falling into the pit. James 4:6-8 gives us the answer, “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” First, humble yourself; Second, Submit to God; and then Resist the devil.
