How do you find the abundant life? Many are living very hectic lives and working hard to find the abundant life. Some even sell all they have and move to the middle of nowhere, seeking this life. However, what they find is that life’s problems follow them, they have no peace. We can only have the abundant life in Christ.
Jesus says in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
First of all, what is this abundant life? The word abundant means we do not lack anything. Christ lived the abundant life. He lacked nothing to glorify the Lord. I am not referring to finances here, though finances may be increased. The abundant life comes when we become a new creation in God.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Cor 5:17
How do we acquire the abundant life. First, you must believe in Jesus, His death and resurrection; confess your sins and repent; Forgive (yourself and others); ask God to heal your heart and give you a new mind (mind of Christ); seek the Lord every day (read the Bible); and, pray.
When we seek the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind God is there to move in a mighty way.
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.” 2 Chr 16:9
Will life’s problems go away? No, as a matter of fact, if we look at Apostle Paul’s life, he suffered much persecution. Yet, He proclaimed the abundance of grace and joy in Christ.
“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Pil 4:4-13
