Double Heart

Can we have a double heart? You have probably heard of a double mind. A mind that is wavering, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.  For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:6-8

A double heart is a deceitful or broken-heart. A heart not whole in Christ or aligned with Him.

God is searching the whole earth for a heart loyal to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9)

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9. We need to ask God to show us our heart.

The heart can be evil as a result of unbelief (verse). The consequence is we will not move forward in the Lord, “But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.” Hebrews 7:24

We need to prepare our heart. Ask the Lord to show you what we can’t see and ask for a clean heart (Psalm 51:10). “And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the Lord.” 2 Chronicles 12:14

“Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.” Hebrews 3:12
