Old things have passed away

We tend to hang onto old things. Some are out in the open, others stored deeply away, and our hearts choose not to resurrect them.

I have heard many times, “I will not forgive, how could I look at what they have done.”

Forgiveness is a word that crashes into the shut door of our hearts. Not today it says, but when? UnForgiveness creates a barrier, double-mindedness and a distance from God.

“But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Mathew 6:15. These are stark words that our hearts know are true, yet the streak of stubbornness rises,  and you find yourself at another door knocking.

“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Luke 11:10

The remarkable reality hits us when the door is opened, and we hear our Lords voice “Come unto me (Mathew 11:28 KJV), I will heal your broken heart and bind up the wounds (Psalm 147:3 NKJV), do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” John 1:50b NKJV. Let me do a good work in you.

Receiving what God has to offer is a step in the right direction.

Lord, help me forgive those that have hurt me. I know that what they did was wrong. I need you to help my heart forgive. Thank you, Jesus.
