Have you been given the prognosis that a family member does not have long to live? Jesus gave this prognosis, “You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.” Mathew 26:2 NKJV
What did Jesus and His family do? He was united with His family (Mathew 26). Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples; shared in the last supper; watched and prayed, “And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” Mathew 26:37-38.
The word translated “watch” means “to guard and be on alert.”
He did not completely separate Himself. He went with His disciples to pray and asked that they watch with Him.
When we have times in our life that are deeply distressing and sorrowful we need someone to walk with us; watch and pray.
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12
