Our Thoughts
What is the source of our thoughts? We can have good thoughts, thoughts of terror, evil thoughts, and sometimes we are thoughtless. I remember someone saying that you never have to teach a child to be selfish. I had much experience pointing out to my children to share their toys.
The scripture teaches us in Matthew 15:19, “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.” So it appears that the types of thoughts we have depend on the condition of our heart. If we want good thoughts with good results, Proverbs 16:3, states, “Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.” When we surrender our lives to God, and make Jesus, Lord of our lives, we have the “mind of Christ”. (I Corinthians 2:16)
When we allow Him, the Holy Spirit directs our thoughts. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (II Corinthians 10:4,5 NKJV)
