Trauma overwhelms. Was David traumatized? How about Job? How about Jesus?
Trauma overwhelms human coping.
With Trauma, a person lives in constant distress, and there is ongoing pain and suffering.
Job was in distress, in anguish, “If only my anguish could be weighed and all my misery be placed on the scales!” Job 6:2. No one except God can relate or measure a persons anguish or trauma.
David said, “My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long?” Psalm 6:3
David expressed some of the impacts of Trauma, “Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and body with grief. My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak. Psalm 31:9-10. Trauma (Sorrow and grief) impacts your vision and focus and makes it difficult to keep God in the forefront of your life; resulting in weakness of spirit, soul, and body.
Jesus anguish caused a physical reaction, as does trauma in so many, “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.” Luke 22:44
How does one cope?
“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.” Psalm 107:13
Jesus took all on the cross! Including trauma, “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Revelation 12:11
