Smorgasbord
A smorgasbord is like a food buffet. It taunts our taste buds as we walk past the luscious choices of meats, vegetables and salad selections. Then the dessert table appears. We generally choose our favorite foods, filling our plate with more than we can eat.
But as I think about the scriptures, God’s whole word is a balanced diet for us. When we treat it like a smorgasbord and pick and choose what we like, we will develop spiritual malnutrition.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
