Many people recommend that you get a pet to fill your loneliness after a loss. My friend followed this advice. She decided to get a dog. The people that she had bought the dog off recommended that she keep the leash on while the dog was in the house for the first couple of days. She did as they recommend. The first night the dog wrapped the leash around a chair and as he walked the chair followed him. He became very frightened by the structure that was following him. As a result, he ran frantically through the house with the chair chasing him as he banged into walls, the furniture, and broke family heirlooms. The dog may have temporarily filled her loneliness, but it stole her peace.
