I lived in Southern Maryland on the Potomac River for many years. I saw many storms come and go.
I noticed that the piers that remained after a storm were the ones that were firmly grounded, pylons set deep and the upper boards that were distressed, beaten or weathered on the pier were released. This allowed the pressure from the rising water to run over and through the pier.

“…Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelations 12:11 NKJV
