Many ask, “What good is God” when their prayers go unanswered. There were several people in the Bible who could have proclaimed the same thing: Joseph could have easily proclaimed this when his brothers plotted to kill him and then sold him into slavery; David the annointed King could have thrown in the towel after years of being hunted by King Saul and his wife given to another man; the Apostle Paul was shipwrecked several times, beaten and stoned, put in prison, and constantly faced the threat of death. Yet, they did not give up hope. We cannot give up hope in our Lord Jesus no matter what comes upon us.
“we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5:3-5
