Cut the shoreline

We all want to feel safe and secure, and we want a safety net.  We don’t want to walk out on the water.

Peter was different, “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

“Come,” he said.  Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,”he said, “why did you doubt?”

And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshipped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”  Mathew 14:28-32

There are some who prefer to stay in the boat, even a boat that is sinking.  Only one of the disciples got out of the boat. Yes, He took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the physical.  But Peter learned a valuable lesson, that he could trust Jesus.   Jesus says come, follow me.  We are to follow Jesus into the spiritual, supernatural world.  God is not in the ordinary; He is in the extraordinary.  We need to keep our eyes on Him.  Cut the shoreline.
