We all have expectations. And when something does not fit within our frame of mind, we question it.
“Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” Luke 1:30-34
This past week in the news, many were raising Mary up as if she were a saint. One man said, “All the blessings that we have are thanks to her” Our expectations should not be based upon traditions, but they should be based upon the truth, the Word of God.
All blessings flow from God to Jesus to us. “He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.” Gal 3:14
Yes, Mary was the prophesied virgin (Isaiah 7:14), and her humble heart and obedience to God’s word paved the way for the Son of God to be born. However, if Mary had not accepted the Angel’s call would,
“…relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place…Esther 4:14
God fulfils His word. What he says, He does!
“All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet.” Mathew 1:22
