We are told several times in the Bible to watch ourselves: that we are not weighed down with the cares of the world (Luke 21:34); we do not enter into temptation (Mathew 26:41); and we are not deceived (Mathew 24:4).
What does watching yourself entail?
- Submit to God and resist the enemy (James 4:7)
- Remain in the Lord and he will remain in you (John 15:4)
- Build up your faith by staying in God’s word. Faith comes by hearing God’s word (Romans 10:17)
- Pray continually (1 Thess 5:17)
- Be humble. A prideful person will be deceived. (Obadiah 1:3)
- Be Vigilant (1 Peter 5:8)
“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” Luke 21:34
