Jesus talks about the abundant life in John 10:10. “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” So, what is this abundant life?  

“Now godliness with contentment is great gain.” 1 Timothy 6:6

When I saw this verse, I thought this is the abundant life. David speaks about having no want in Psalm 23:1, because the Lord is his shepherd and he has everything he needs. He is satisfied.

Godliness is reverence, respect, and holiness, according to the Strong’s concordance. Godliness should be shown to all men.  

Contentment is sufficiency. Being satisfied in life.  

Bring both of these together, and there is great gain.
