Yes, we can. Unrighteousness and pride can lead to deception.  

All unrighteousness is sin (1 John 5:7), “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8

And pride, which is a sin, leads to deception (“The pride of your heart has deceived you,” Obadiah 1:3

The solution to deception is to seek God above all else, submit to God, resist the enemy, and humble yourselves.
