The Bible says, “honor your father and mother…” Mathew 19:19.   

How do you honor your parents (Father or mother) if they have not treated you right? This question is often asked by those whose parents have abused them, whether verbally or physically.

We do not need to honor their sinful behavior. The Lord tells us to stay away from evil.    “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” Psalm 1:1

However, we need to forgive them. 

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Mathew 6:14-15
