Many have lost their taste due to COVID, and this story may turn your stomach. If you thought 2020 was unusual, check out the New York Times story this past week on cannibalism. The title has many concerned, ‘cannibalism has a time and place’ – and it might be now.
There appears to be an up trend, a new fascination with cannibalism. Is this a normalization of what is to come? In 2014 police shut down a restaurant that was serving human heads.
After the global flood, God gave Noah permission to eat meat. “Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything” (Genesis 9:3).
However, God specifies that the “food for you” does not include fellow human beings. “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind” (Genesis 9:6).
Cannibalism is mentioned several times in Scripture (Leviticus 26:29; Deuteronomy 28:53-57; Jeremiah 19:9; Lamentations 2:20; 4:10; Ezekiel 5:10), but in each case, the practice is regarded as a curse and inhuman act of desperation.
“‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, but walk contrary to Me, then I also will walk contrary to you in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.”
Leviticus 26:27-29 NKJV
We need to pray that people “get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you (them), which can save you (them)” James 1:21.
