Heaviness

A heaviness came over me this past week. It is like a dark cloud that makes you feel weighed down. It came out of nowhere. As I reflect on the circumstances, it started with my mind. I let my mind wander from the Lord. I started meditating on things that happened and did not happen that day. I felt rejected, sorrowful, depressed and alone. When I realized that I was being taken away from the Lord and heading to the Pit, I started thanking and praising the Lord, and then I cried out to the Lord to be delivered. Immediately the Heaviness left.

God’s word says, “whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered” Joel 2:32

So many today are walking around with the Strongman of Heaviness, depression, self-pity, sorrow, grief, rejection and a broken heart. This should not be. Jesus died on the cross to take Heaviness and loose the garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3). When we fill ourselves up with God’s word, it will come to our remembrance when we need it.

“My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.” Psalm 119:28
